We Don't Just Fight Fires
Beside
fighting fires in the town of St, Georges, the Fire Brigade also has a mutual
aid agreement with the Fire Station at the airport and when called upon we also
respond to the Bermuda Fire Service request for assistance.
Every year in conjunction with the St. George Fire Brigade
Association we visit Nursery, and Primary School during Fire Prevention week.
Fire Prevention Week is very popular with both our members and the children. We
go into the schools and teach them about how to can 911, how to stop drop &
roll, their way to get out and stay out of their homes and schools. The children
also get to look at the fire truck up close and some of them come to visit us at
the station.
On the Sunday after November 11" "Remembrance Day",
the Royal Artillery Association Club invites us along with the Sea Cadets,
Brownies, Junior Leader and the Bermuda Regiment Band to a parade and church
service remembering our war veterans. We parade from R. A. A. Club to the town square
were their is a short service. We then go to a service in St. Peters Church and
then match back to the R. A. A. Club for refreshments.
During the Christmas season the Fire Brigade ensure that
Santa arrives at all his many functions including his famous visit to the town
square one evening. He gets to meet all the children and after ensuring that he
has herd all their wishes, Santa give then give them treats before he leave for
the North Pole.
From time to time we are also called upon though out the
year to teach C.P.R. to the community and business. We also give talks and visit
various business and homes when requested. Below Cruse ship evacuation of drill
